The world took a pause or rather was forced to take one due to the COVID-19 situation. One of the things that kept the human race hopeful and entertained is creativity. When the world was living from home, some of the renowned brands’ creative departments saw an opportunity to design advertisements and commercials that can connect! Behind those touching adverts, one thing that is highlighted the most is the ease of use. In other words, a few of the best Ad campaigns in 2020 have shown that customer experience (CX) was, is, and will always remain at the forefront of any business.
2020 taught us that exceptional CX is no longer an option, it’s a necessity as we step into 2021.
Brands directed their marketing efforts towards the containment of the Coronavirus spread, but as always, they somehow added their branding element. We have compiled a list of 12 most-loved advertising campaigns of 2020. Apart from the creativity quotient, one common thing in these ads is customer experience at the center of all of them. Let’s learn about them and find out how they have created the conjunction between empathy and brand marketing.
First up we have the Apple WFH ad. What we loved about the creative ad campaign is the demonstration of the real-life WFH (work from home) scenarios and utility of the Apple devices. When the world is understanding, utilizing, and prospering technology the most, Apple chose to showcase how their products make the work simple and hassle-free. The ‘stay at home’ message is displayed along with the smart conjunction of usefulness and ease of Apple products.
COVID-19 became the most crucial time for the brands to establish themselves as caring and giving companies in society. Uber, undoubtedly proved itself as one by spreading the stay at home message through its ads. The simple ‘thank you’ commercial gained Uber a lot of public empathy, and that’s the reason why we think this as one of the best Ad campaigns of 2020.
In the wake of the pandemic and for the foreseeable future, we all agree that contactless is the new common! McDonald’s, in its super simple yet creative advertisement, shows how they are promoting touchless commerce The ad is a two in one bullseye for promoting its Application as well as care for the world.

Nike, on the other hand, with powerful words, proved that they’re still the most useful weapon. They got to their Instagram profile to spread a meaningful message via a simple post. It is not always about sales, and they know it better!
News, OTT platforms, and Online Shopping are the three things that witnessed a hike during the pandemic. And in a world full of fake news, The New York Times, via its subtle advertising, showed the importance of true and authentic information.
Up next on our list of best Ad campaigns is Heinz Ketchup. They introduced a puzzle in their branding color to kill boredom while people stay indoors. These kinds of ads define that even when you aren’t related to certain ongoings, be a part of it by offering something smart.
Honda marketed its miniature model in an ad highlighting the importance of staying at home. The creative ad gives a message that there’s so much one can do by staying at home. This is again an example of money over society, and how you make people matters!
The most relatable and essential ad on the list is IBM’s rethink one. When people are accustomed to the new normal, it is still a question of how people will resume day-to-day work with precautions. Companies are offering more, but people are also expecting a shift in how the operations work. The digital world is becoming an inseparable part of human life, and now is the time when we need secure cloud networks, swift work processes and tools, smart platforms, and trusted service providers. IBM portrayed it very well via its commercial and made it to our list of best Ad campaigns from 2020.
WFH ads are never a disappointment when most organizations across the globe are adopting the shift. Slack has literally explained the platform’s features and utility for different jobs such as chatting, project management, video meetings, file sharing, and so on. It is a typical promotional ad but leaves an impact because such platforms are what we need the most!
As we mentioned earlier, online shopping is one of the most adopted practices of the year. People shopped grocery, essential things, and medicines online more than anything else. To incentivize this trend, Amazon marketed its 2-hour grocery delivery service. The catch here is, they didn’t mention COVID-19 or anything related to it but yet gave a very apt ad.
Humor never fails humans!
Well, to prove that the statement is correct, we offer to you the Snickers’ advert. They showed the after-pandemic world where people will start gatherings with the new normal memories still in mind. The zoom meets are far from forgetfulness from our lives. The endnote of the ad has a message that you might need a Snickers to feed your hunger in order for your mind to work better. Witty, isn’t it?
